what helps back pain
You must do this at least once daily. According to AHRQ, for subacute (lasting between seven and 12 weeks) and chronic low back pain, massage seems to improve symptoms and function in the short term (i.e., one week) — but there’s no evidence that it leads to any long-term change. At best, you’ll get a bit of immediate relief, but nothing lasting.

Thank you Dr. Sarno! Your books, especially Healing Back Pain gave me my active life back. Hiking, biking, fishing, adventuring!
Dr. Sarno's program has helped thousands of patients find relief from chronic back conditions. In this New York Times bestseller, Dr. Sarno teaches you how to identify stress and other psychological factors that cause back pain and demonstrates how to heal yourself—without drugs, surgery or exercise. Find out:
I think the poses recommended in this book would be difficult for some beginners to perform if not possibly damaging to already sore backs. There are not enough cautions or alternative options for easing into poses. If you are pain free and in great shape then you could keep your back health and strong using this book. I would not recommend it to anyone who actually is currently dealing with a sore back.

After seven months of severe back pain I read this book in one day. That same day I quit the pain meds I had taken for months. The pain didn't go away right away-it took about 2-3 months. In addition I also did the workbook " Think away your pain" which was written by a student of Dr. Sarno. All in all I can truly say this book changed my life and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Sarno.
