I read Sarno's book more than 25 years ago. As I recall, it was then called Mind Over Back Pain and it changed my life. I'd broken my back in high school by falling off a horse. I also had lots of trauma in my middle grade and teenage years. Following the break, I had pain in my lower back, on and off, for about a decade. The pain was enough to sideline me for days at a time. It wouldn't seem that Sarno's book should have worked for me as I assumed the pain was related to my prior back injury.
