I don't know whether or not his mechanism is correct, nor am I very familiar with the research you mentioned, but I can say that my experience is at least consistent with his model. If I behave as if his mechanism is correct, I get very good results. I've proven that to myself over and over again. Nothing else has ever worked significantly.
