And why else would anti-anxiety and antidepressant drugs be used in back pain treatment despite medical science failure to accept mind-body illnesses? This book is good in giving a basic introduction to the mind/body effects in back pain but could be more prescriptive for those not used to mind/body concepts and give a beginning some exercises to work through on the psychological concepts discussed. The role of hormones and neurotransmitters in production of pain would also be relevant.
