At 43 years of age, I have read my fair share of books and this is the most important book I have ever read. I wish I had read it before I had a microdiscectomy at L4/L5. A year and a half after my procedure, the pain\numbness came back and I was about to fly across the country for another surgery, convinced that a transverse process - "Bertolloti's Syndrome" - was the primary culprit. Dr. Sarno has changed my life. I'm 25 years old, and Ive been experiencing back pain for almost 3 years. As a former athlete who experienced tons of injuries, I was searching for structural causes for my upper back and shoulder pain. I couldn't find any, and no one could identify the problem: not the massage therapist, not the chiropractor, not the physio therapist, nor my family doctor. Its quite strange to me, but with each turn of the page, I felt my pain leave as I learned more and more about Dr. Sarno's insight into the mind-body connection.
