How To Cure Back Pain – From The Desk Of Someone Who Knows
How To Cure Back Pain – From The Desk Of Someone Who Knows
How to cure back pain ? There are millions of people around the world who are back pain sufferers and I am/was one of them looking for answers. This is my story and I hope it will help you.
These days I have it mostly under control. If I was to put a date and time on how the route cause occurred, I can tell you that on June 12th 1981 I injured my back about two thirty in the afternoon. I specifically remember this date because it was exactly one week to the day before I was to be married.
The accident occurred while I was showjumping and taking a novice mare over a fence. The mare tripped on a pole on the ground that was there to pace her stride and she somersaulted headfirst over the jump. As she threw me to the ground she kicked me on the way down in the lower region of my back.
If my life was ever to flash before my eyes, it did then. I had clear visions as I was lying on the ground with no feeling below the waist, of arriving to my wedding in a wheelchair. Fortunately there was no damage (famous last words) and when the feeling returned to my legs, I jumped back on the mare and took her over the jump again for fear of losing my nerve. Little did I know that for the next three decades I would be continually trying every alternative method available, in an effort to find the answer to how to cure back pain?
I think the first time it really came against me was when I was in labour with the birth of my daughter. Being my first child and having no experience I didn’t know what to expect, but remember being surprised that all the pain was across my lower back and that the smallest massage from my husband offered me the greatest relief. The back pain was so acute that I could hardly breathe, yet he told me later that he was barely touching me.
There is little that you can do, I have since found out, when the back pain is so acute, however mild massage does offer some relief along with prescription medication. This can be a blessing at this time, however does not constitute a solution in the long term for the relief of back pain.
The first time I ever heard of Sciatica was several years later when I went to open my car door and was very suddenly crippled down my right side with excruciating pain. A visit to the doctor resulted in more medication and a test followed to prove that I was severely anaemic. This was a result of stress that I was under at the time, having recently moved house, the commute to work was taking its toll on me, not to mention the longer drive was having an effect on my back. I had totally underestimated how stress can have an effect on my back pain but years later I have a very different opinion.
As the Sciatica continued on and off over the next several months, I decided I needed to search for alternative methods of treatment for my back pain in lieu of taking medication. This led me to start working with a Chiropractor and back then I found him in the Yellow Pages! After spending quite a cumbersome amount of money on these treatments I was still in so much pain he gave up and told me I needed to see a surgeon! Was this how to cure back pain?
By all intents and purposes I had no other option but to see a surgeon. It was definitely the knife! So I paid the surgeon a visit only to find when I got there, that he had to be elsewhere. He did not show for my appointment! Incredulous, I decided that if he did not care enough to see me then that was the last time he would hear from me.
I made a decision there and then that I would take charge of my own life and find a cure for my back pain. For many years I have tried alternative methods of treatment however these days I have a great understanding of my body and I believe the best cure for common back pain is to focus your efforts on the core muscles of your body. In order to really understand how these work it is very beneficial to find a mentor. I have found mine in my physiotherapist. He is a movement specialist and engages in a variety of methods in order to stabilise the core.
An ultrasound will show you where the core muscles are and how they work and what they look like when stabilised. An ultrasound is a great tool to use to explain what is going on with your core muscles and once you understand the information you will use it. Every time you are walking, sitting or bending you will become conscious of your core muscles and your intent will be to stabilise them before you do any strenuous movement. Causes of lower back pain will be alleviated by this.
I believe the best way to start your strengthening exercise programme is in a hydrotherapy pool; this method of exercise has very low impact and can strengthen the body in a relatively short space of time. Once you are feeling stable, walking, cycling or a regular gym routine can lead to further strength but I must also recommend Pilates. This is a well documented technique for strengthening core muscles.
I have had my many ups and downs over the last number of years with my back and looking back at the most acute attacks, one common factor stands out for me and that is stress. Whether it is personal, financial or work related it is definitely a factor that contributes to back pain.
These days we are more fortunate to have the internet at our finger tips, and with a little research we can find a way to cure our back pain from the comfort of our own home without spending a fortune. There is no longer a need to search for a way to eliminate back pain temporarily, because with the types of courses offered today, one can learn how to get on with life without having to experience back pain again.
And now I would like to invite you to click on the following link. This site will offer you a solution so that you may take control of your life today http://how-to-cure-backpain.com Pauline Carroll is an independent market researcher dedicated to finding solutions on how to cure back pain for people just like her.

“Fatherless” By Jeremy Gibson?
Question by PANDAmonium: “Fatherless” By Jeremy Gibson?
“Fatherless”
Lost aspiration drowns the face in the form of tears
A child standing hopeless and lost
Comes to the reality of a fatherless childhood
Abandoned, left to doubt his perseverance
Staring into the transparent eyes of his crying mother
Searching for hope in her dying soul
Unwilling to accept the facts he begins to reminisce
Of long days at the park tossing a baseball,
To the certainty of his father’s awaiting mitt
Their father-son bond seemed so cohesive
Abruptly interrupted by the thought of distress
Out of insecurity, the boy questions himself as the cause
“Perhaps it wasn’t him, but me,” he whispers.
Distraught by his own accusations of his father’s motives
The boy envisions life further down the road
One without the influence of his father’s lessons
A life of questions without answers,
Who will teach him the fundamentals of manhood?
Amidst his blame a truth surfaces
The cries of his mother, in all her pain,
Represents the loss of something significant: a family
Though the pain of his father’s abandonment hurts temporarily,
The loss of a son will last forever
I wrote this poem when I was 17 (2 years ago), and I was hoping to get some feed back by sharing it with you. It was published in a book I did with some other writers along with a few of my other poems. Let me know what you think? And more importantly what you feel can improve the poem and my writing in general, thank you.

The doctor said Scoliosis doesn’t cause back pain… then why does it hurt so badly?
Question by Kiki K: The doctor said Scoliosis doesn’t cause back pain… then why does it hurt so badly?
I have been diagnosed with scoliosis.
I got an appointment because I have very bad pains in my back, especially in my lower back, and my left side ribs hurt really bad, and never my right side.
I asked the doctor, and he said “Scoliosis doesn’t cause back pain”.
Then why do I feel so much pain in the areas my spine is twisted?
What can I do to stop the pain, or lessen the intensity?
Please help, I am so confused.

This is an xray. ![]()
Oh, I forgot to add, my left ribs are sticking out strangely in front, and my right ribs are normal.
Sometimes it makes it a little harder to run, or breathe heavily.

Stop carrying heavy book backpacks if you are doing that. Stop doing any movement that is heavier to one side than the other.
The doctor should be trying to find out what is causing the pain. If it is not from the scoliosis, then what IS causing it. Any pain above the waist can be a sign of a heart attack. Or it could be just “stitches” or rib muscles being pulled after exercising (like running). Left side is your stomach and pancreas too.

Have a UTI due to losing virginity – how do I cure this?
Question by Stronger than yesterday: Have a UTI due to losing virginity – how do I cure this?
23 y/o and just lost it last weekend to my boyfriend. He used a condom, not worried about stds bc he hasn’t slept around and I know his history. He was very gentle and slow n took care of me afterwards (I was paralyzed for a while).
2 days later, the blood has gone away but my vagina feels…not painful but sensitive. Sitting is somewhat weird and I have stomach cramps now and then. I had a UTI and peeing had a weird feeling but I’ve been drinking lots of water and that has eased up a bit. It’s Thursday and i lost it saturday night and the “pain” comes and goes. When I pee it sometimes has that burning sensation and feels as if you’re pulling back…it really comes and goes…also w. stomach cramps…and it’s hard to sit at times.
I heard this was normal but not sure if I should just increase drinking more cranberry juice, water…and I did only do this deed once and don’t think i’ll be doing it anytime soon but people have been tellin me to go to a doctor. Thing is, i’m nearing my late 20′s (yes, i’m a late bloomer) and due to college, i’m still considered a “dependent” w. medical insurance and i’m currently unemployed. I come from a strict, catholic, old fashioned family and…yeah you get the picture…
Anyhoo, how else can I cure this?

You could go to planned parenthood and none of your family would ever know.
Also, this sounds serious. When I lost my virginity there was almost no blood and there was no pain. You should definitely see a doctor, especially since this has been lasting a week.
You should remember that your health is more important then what your parents think. You are 23 years old, you need to stand up for yourself.
What do you think? Answer below!

What Is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a term doctors use to describe a lateral curve of the spine. Depending on the etiology (cause) of the scoliosis, there may be one or more curves involved.
Types of Scoliosis
There are two types of scoliosis: structural and functional. A structural scoliosis can be caused by disease, bony or muscular deformities, congenital deformities (those that are present at birth) or improper healing from injury or surgery. A functional scoliosis can occur as a result of injury, muscle spasm, spinal mal-alignment, or the body trying to compensate for spinal problems, such as a herniated disc. Individuals with these conditions tend to “create” a scoliosis as they are leaning to one side trying to find a position in which to relieve their pain.
The curvature of a scoliosis can be mobile, or in more serious cases, can be fixed (unable to move). Cases of immobility are typically the result of injury or a disease, such as polio, that can result in multiple spinal bones fusing together.
The most common type of scoliosis is idiopathic scoliosis. This is what doctors look for when they perform spinal screenings on school-age children. The term idiopathic means “of unknown cause.” It begins as a functional scoliosis, but can become structural over time if it is not managed by a health care professional such as an orthopedist or a chiropractor. It is very important to catch scoliosis in childhood before it progresses as it can significantly worsen as the spine develops and the child grows.
More About Idiopathic Scoliosis
Between 60 and 80 percent of cases of idiopathic scoliosis occur in school-age girls, and are usually detected between the ages of 9 and 14. The condition may first be suspected when one shoulder appears higher than the other, when clothes do not hang straight, or when one hip seems more prominent. An initial complaint may be fatigue in the low or mid back after prolonged standing or sitting. Note that pain is a manifestation as time passes, as the ligaments of the spine endure prolonged strain.
Of the 4 percent of children with detectable scoliosis, half will require treatment or continuing medical observation; the other half can be screened in school and simply monitored for significant progression.
What Is the Outcome?
The outcome depends on the site and severity of the curve and the age of onset of symptoms. Complications are related to the type of curve present. The greater the curve, the greater the likelihood of progression after skeletal maturity. A prompt referral to a chiropractor or an orthopedist is recommended in order to institute treatment to correct the deformity or to prevent further deformity.
What Is the Treatment for Scoliosis?
Chiropractic treatment for scoliosis utilizes specific adjustments to the involved areas of the spine. This is combined with therapies such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, or intersegmental traction, and postural exercise. The progression of the curve in the spine is monitored very closely to determine if more aggressive treatments are deemed necessary. Chiropractic treatments are designed to focus on the correction of the scoliosis and the prevention of complications. A large percentage of scoliosis patients find relief and correction for their scoliosis deformity through chiropractic care.
If scoliosis is progressing rapidly or is severe, an immediate consultation with an orthopedist is necessary. The orthopedic specialist will review the condition to determine what treatment should be rendered. Treatment may include a brace fitted to the spine (called a Milwaukee brace), electrospinal stimulation, or spinal surgery.
Being diagnosed with scoliosis, wearing a brace or cast, being hospitalized, or having surgery can greatly challenge a youngster’s independence or self-image. The alternative, however, is living with a significant deformity. Counseling and support should also be major components in caring for children and teenagers with scoliosis.
Treatment for Adults
Treatment for scoliosis in adults is also relative to the type, cause, and severity of the condition. The effects from neglecting care can include spinal degeneration, nerve impingement, disc problems, and spinal fusion. Keep in mind that if a scoliosis condition goes uncorrected from childhood into adulthood, the chances for correction in adulthood are slim. Once into adulthood, the progression of the condition may be slowed or halted, and pain relief may be achieved; however, the condition is not completely correctable at this point.
If the scoliosis is caused by muscle spasm or spinal bone misalignment, the scoliosis is very correctable. The treatment of scoliosis is completely dependent upon the cause.
Early detection and prevention are the best possible treatments for scoliosis. Make sure your children are participating in spinal screenings performed at school. If spinal screenings are not performed at your child’s school, call your health care provider or local doctor of chiropractic. A screening only takes a few minutes but can prevent years of pain.

Causes Of Lower Back Pain | Lower Back Pain Causes
www.thewinnerguide.com — Causes Of Lower Back Pain As we get older, our bodies tend to lose their muscle elasticity and tone, as well as bone strength. The discs in our spine lose fluid and flexibility, and they cant cushion the vertebrae as well anymore. Aging is one reason we get lower back pain. If the muscles or ligaments in the back have a spasm, sprain or strain, the discs in the spine can rupture or bulge. That puts a lot of pressure on the nerves that are based in the spinal cord. When there is compression or irritation in those nerve roots, the back complains by giving us pain. What causes the back spasm, sprain or strain? Usually some form of trauma or injury, for example attempting to lift something too heavy, or overstretching. Degenerative diseases like arthritis or osteoporosis can also cause lower back pain. Other potential factors are congenital abnormalities in the spine, viral infections and irritation to the joints and discs. Some life conditions can also contribute to lower back pain. These include smoking, obesity, pregnancy weight gain, poor physical condition, stress, poor posture and poor sleeping position. Oftentimes, lower back and hip pain go hand in hand. Avoiding Lower Back Pain If you take proper care of your back in your day-to-day life, you can avoid lower back pain. Be sure to have correct posture and to lift with your legs (instead of using your back), as well as strengthening your back with exercises. Be sure that your workplace follows …

What does an “extra V3″ wave on an EKG indicate?
Question by Julie: What does an “extra V3″ wave on an EKG indicate?
I’m a 20 year old female who is on a Beta Blocker. I was diagnosed 3 months ago with tachycardia with an “unknown cause”. Last night I went into the ER with chest pain, lightheadedness, flushed face, & throat tightness. The throat tightness was the most severe symptom and something I’ve never had WITH my other heart-related symptoms. They did an EKG, a chest X-RAY, a d-dimer blood test, and all the routine vitals taken. The only two abnormalities that came back was my B/P was 139/90 (which is very high for me, especially on my Beta Blocker, I generally run about 85/68) and they found that I had ONE extra v3 wave on the EKG. It only showed up on one wave, not on every wave. I am just curious what this means because now I’m being referred to the Cardiologist again and the ER doctor mentioned something about it possibly being WPW Syndrome. Please let me know if you have any knowledge of EKG’s or Cardiology to put me at ease. Thank you.

I wrote a text on ECG (EKG abbreviates the German word) interpretation and taught ECG interpretation for many years. Therefore I should be able to be of assistance. Although you provide more information than most I am still a bit confused. V3 is one of 6 precordial or chest ‘leads’ and not a ‘wave’. A delta wave representing early excitation of the ventricles is recognized as a slurring of the upstroke of the QRS (the QRS is the wave produced by the electrical activity of the ventricles). It may be a lot less expensive to ask for the official interpretation of the ECG before you run off to a cardiologist. Physicians are no longer taught ECG interpretation and virtually all ECGs today come with a computer interpretation. Although I did a study many years ago which found that ECG interpretations are correct only 50% of the time most physicians usually just accept them as true. Most often the ‘official’ interpretation is not made by the Emergency Department physician. If you have an x-ray the Emergency Department physician will look at it and give you their opinion but the x-ray will then be officially read by a radiologist. The official ECG interpretation is usually made by a cardiologist. Get a copy of the official interpretation. See if delta waves or pre-excitation are mentioned. If what the Emergency Department saw was a normal variant – which is common – the cardiologist will read the ECG as normal. If you do indeed have a delta wave and Wolff-Parkinson-White is suspected the value of a visit with a cardiologist is still questionable. WPW means that you have the potential for developing a re-entrant tachycardia. These are sudden onset and they may be lethal. Unfortunately we do not know what percent of people with WPW develop re-entrant tachycardias. The treatment for re-entrant tachycardias due to WPW is called radio catheter ablation. This is not a benign procedure. In some ways it is similar to a cardiac catherization. If you have never experienced a very rapid heart rate – such as 200 beats per minute – the cardiologist is going to be hesitant to perform the electrophysiologic test necessary. Indeed if you do need such a test it should be done by an electrophysiologist who is a sub-specialed cardiologist and not a cardiologist per se. Again – if you opt for a cardiology evaluation it should be done by an electrophysiologist rather than a ‘regular’ cardiologist. If I may be of further assistance please let me know – scan and send the ECG to me if you wish – johnerussomd@jhu.edu – I wish you the very best of health and may God bless.

It’s not the ominous “lower back pain…” it just feels like my back needs to be cracked right at the base of my spine. I’m pretty sure it’s associated with the pregnancy. It’s been going on for about 4 days and getting worse.
